Supportive Services

Sojourner House offers the following supportive services

  • Case Management
    • Sojourner House has a full-time Program Manager. The Program Manager provides case management to the families of SH. The Program Manager works closely with the families’ and makes referrals to community resources based on the needs of the family.
  • Housing Search
    • Once a family moves into the shelter, their extensive search for affordable permanent housing begins. Families’ begin to work on establishing credit, securing employment, money management, references and various documents required for housing. A Housing Worker assigned from MHP meets with the families’ onsite weekly and works in conjunction with the Program Manager to secure permanent housing.
  • Stabilization
    • Once a family moves out of the shelter to permanent housing they are provided Stabilization Services. The Program Manager continues to work with the family for one year ensuring the family has a seamless transition. Monthly check-ins and home visits are conducted by the Program Manager.
  • Onsite Therapy
    • Boston Healthcare for the Homeless provides onsite therapy by a licensed clinician and a nurse meets with the families twice a month.
  • Parenting Classes
    • The Family Nurturing Center of Dorchester provides onsite parenting classes. The classes are held weekly in the evening and child care is provided.
  • Community Outings
    • St. Gerard Majella Church of Canton provides monthly family outings. Families are invited to attend bowling, ice skating, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas parties and other family themed events.
